Meet the Playerz! This Month: Don Montrey

Each month we feature a different ComedySportz player.  This month, we sat down with Don Montrey and asked him 10 questions:

don-montreyYour name and nickname: Don “The Full” Montrey (Does this nickname have relevance anymore? They may as well call me Don “The Crying Game” Montrey…or maybe not.)

Your player number : 71

Year you joined ComedySportz: 2002

Where did you go to High School?: Archbishop Wood HS for Boys (It’s now Archbishop Wood High School; they combined the boys and girls schools after I graduated. I could make a comment about how I was gypped, but really, I would have just struck out more often than I did.)

Which college did you attend?: DeSales University

Favorite CSz game: Advice Panel

Favorite memory involving a fan: A little boy asking me during Advice Panel how he might see his dead Grandpa again.

Memorable show moment: That’s hard. There are a lot of great show moments, that’s what makes CSz fun. I once reffed a hysterical game of CHAIN DEATH MURDER that went so far off the tracks it was transcendent, then there was the time I got heckled by a guy who told me to be more funny, but my favorite didn’t involve me, it featured players Kevin Dougherty and the great Mike Young in an awesome game of QUICK CHANGE. It included roommates, a sock puppet and amazing quick-witted improv. There is no greater joy than watching two pros excelling in their artistic milieu. I wish improv was sometimes scripted because this was pure comedy gold.

Interesting fact (or 2) about yourself: I have a wife and two children. I occasionally do stand-up, sketch comedy and am lucky enough to have a small side career as a comedy writer. Sometimes I grow a beard.

Voted Most Likely To… Never Show Up At My High School Reunion
