Meet the Playerz! May Edition: Alex Bechtel

Theatre actor.  Comedy songwriter.  Dreamweaver.  Believe it – he can get you through the night.  Alex is one of our two talented keyboardists and we wanted you to get to know him better!alex1

1. Your name and nickname: Alex Bechtel. There’s been some dispute about a proper nickname for me. For a while it was “Bechtel School Time.” That one’s pretty good. I’m also partial to Alex “TreBechtel.” Not bad there.

2. Your player #: No number, sadly. But if I had one, it’d probably be 88. Eh? Eh? Piano players in the house?!

3. Year you joined CSz: 2007

4. High School attended: Exeter Township Senior High in Exeter, PA, just outside of Reading.

5. College attended: University of the Arts in Philadelphia, majoring in Musical Theatre

6. Favorite CSz game: To Play: “Blank Aid.”
To Watch: it’s a tie between “Four Corners” and “Arms Expert.”

7. Favorite memory involving a fan: We were playing “5 Thingz,” and I chimed in by playing “Mmmm Bop” on the piano. After which, the fan sitting next to me leaned over and said to me, “How do you know that?!” He said it quite incredulously, so I couldn’t figure out if he was impressed by my ability to figure it out, or admonishing me for being dorky enough to know the song by heart.

8. Memorable show moment: One night, in “Joy Ride,” the team onstage was endowed as “Lip Synchers.” I started singing and playing some 80′s ballad by Richard Marx, and the team onstage lip synched. That was fun.

9. Interesting fact (or 2) about yourself:
I taught myself how to play piano using the collected works of Ben Folds Five.
