The Philadelphia School of Improv - WORK STUDY
Have Fun, Lend a Hand, EARN CREDITS TOWARDS ENROLLMENT
PSI is committed to making improv classes available to as many students as possible. That’s why we created our Volunteer and Work Study Programs.
The Philadelphia School of Improv has numerous volunteer opportunities to work Philly's longest running comedy competition: ComedySportz. As a Volunteer, you get to see the show for FREE; and if you are a PSI student you can earn discounts on upcoming classes.
What you need to know:
Your arrival time is one hour before the match starts. You can expect to meet the House Manager and go over your duties of selling concessions and/or ushering.
STUDENTS: You must work BOTH shows or ComedySportz matches in one evening to get credit for class. (For each night you work you will get 5% off your tuition with a cap of 20%. )
EVERYONE ELSE: You can work one or both matches.
You should dress comfortable and casual, but not sloppy as you will interact with the public.
Once the match begins you can sit down, watch and enjoy! The House Manager will tell you when you should come back to the lobby to sell concessions for Halftime.
The Philadelphia School of Improv and CSz Philadelphia are happy to offer a work study program for improv students who need financial assistance for class enrollment. In exchange, students will receive free enrollment for the semester.
Job Description: The student will be responsible for weekly tasks that keep the theater in top-top shape including sweeping and mopping, plus any other jobs as determined by the Technical Director.
Requirements: The student must be able to work 8 weeks of Saturdays from 4PM-6PM during the enrolled Semester. They must be at least 18 years old, and eligible to work in the US. (Note: If the student is unable to meet these requirements, they will be required to pay the outstanding balance of their enrollment.)
The person in this position needs to move around the theater space to sweep, mop, arrange chairs and other tasks as determined by the Technical Director. The person in this position may also be required to ascend/descend stairs and/or ladders and lift up to 25 pounds.
